One of the top activities to experience during your time in the Lakes is to spend time on or in the water. Alongside leisurely cruises provided by Windermere Lake Cruises, we offer a variety of water sports for you to enjoy, including sailing, private motorboat cruises, open water swimming, paddle boarding, and the increasingly popular sport of Wakesurfing through our partnership with Windermere Wakesurfing.

Wakesurfing?
Wakesurfing is an activity that involves riding the wake created by a specially designed boat on a small surfboard. It’s different from wakeboarding, another water sport with a similar name.
Once you’ve mastered the correct wakesurfing technique under their professional guidance, you will only need a short rope to initially get you out of the water until the wave starts to push you along.
The optimum speed for our boats to generate the perfect wake for surfing is approximately 10 knots. This speed makes wakesurfing well-suited for Lake Windermere, where there is a 10 knot speed limit in most areas.
