There's so much to do in this area at all times of year but I am delighted to bring you my top ten favourite.

Top 10 things to do in and around Alnwick
1. Alnwick Castle – the home of Harry Potter, Robin Hood etc…
2. Alnwick Gardens – walking distance from the hotel, ideal day out for the family
3. Farne Islands – Seahouses: enjoy a wonderful boat-trip to the Farne Islands to visit to local seal and puffins. Free drop-off on the island for members of the National Trust.
4. Cragside – Visit the wonderful gardens of Cragside with over 200 varieties of rhododendrons (ideal in May-June). Cragside House was the first house to work on hydro-electricity.
5. Bamburgh Castle and Grace Darling Museum – visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, with Bamburgh Castle on the background. Birthplace of Grace Darling who saved many stranded fishermen from the nearby islands.
6. Eshot Heugh Farm – visit this wonderful farm and enjoy the local Beef Jerky made on location. Highlight of this visit will be the close encounter of the meercats.
7. Barter Books – visit the largest second hand bookshop in the country. Located in the old Alnwick train station.
8. Holy Island & Lindisfarne Castle – a drive over the causeway towards Holy Island will provide you with breathtaking views of the Northumberland coast. Try the locally produced Lindisfarne Mead and visit the old priory.
9. Ingram Valley – Ideal place for hiking. A gentle walk in the middle of the Cheviots along the river Coquet.
10. Craster Village – Visit the Craster Kipper Company and have a stroll on the beach towards Dunstanburgh Castle.
