Things to Do

Our location is so central that we are ideally situated for some great days out exploring fascinating historic sites and places of interest to nature lovers and hobby enthusiasts. Here are some ideas:

The River Nene – the Queens Head Inn is situated on the banks of the River Nene and has overnight moorings available for long boats and pleasure boats.

Nene Valley Railway -  a must visit for all rail enthusiasts and home to famous children’s character Thomas the Steam engine.

East of England Showground – home to the East of England Show  and many other festivals to promote English agriculture.

Burghley -  Burghley is one of the largest and grandest houses of the first Elizabethan Age. Built and mostly designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1555 and 1587, the main part of the House has 35 major rooms on the ground and first floors. There are more than 80 lesser rooms and numerous halls, corridors, bathrooms and service areas. The lead roof extends to three quarters of an acre, restoration and rebuilding of which began in 1983 and took nearly ten years to complete. Visitor facilities include the Orangery Restaurant, Gift Shop, Gardens of Surprise and beautiful walks around the historic parkland laid out by Capability Brown and still occupied by a herd of fallow deer.

Huntingdon Racecourse  - Voted Best Small Racecourse in the South Midlands and East Anglia by the Racegoers Club, Huntingdon Racecourse is an intimate racing venue with an atmosphere all of its own. The course is about 20 minutes from Nassington and is home to 18 Jump race meetings, and 1 Arab meeting, spanning 9 months of the year.

Prebendal Manor - Prebendal Manor House is one of the most historic properties in Northamptonshire.
