Our History
A fine example of a Victorian manor house, Bagden Hall was completed in 1866 by Sir Thomas Norton. He chose this stunning location because from here he could oversee his mills in the nearby village of Scissett, and it remained the family home of the Norton family for many years.
Portraits of the family, which adorn the hotel foyer, have been loaned to the hotel by the Norton family's last surviving member. Sir Thomas Norton's portrait can be seen in the front foyer.
The house was opened as hotel in 1992 with just 16 bedrooms. 20 extra double bedrooms and the Orchard Suite was added in 2004 to provide extra capacity for weddings and functions.
